Image of man released as police appeal for information after burglary at Oldham jewellers

The shocking incident happened in the Greater Manchester town's centre earlier this month.

Police are appealing to the public for information after a burglary took place at a major jewellers in Oldham earlier this month.

An image of a man that investigating officers would like to speak to has also been released.

The appeal comes after police were called to reports of a burglary at a branch of the well-known jewellers, H Samuels, in the Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre in the heart of Oldham town centre at around 3:45pm on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the suspect is understood to have entered the shop posing as a customer.

This was before they then reached into one of the glass cabinets, and proceeded to grab three gold chains, before making off towards the high street in a quick exit.

The suspect is believed to have taken property to the value of £1,200, according to GMP.

With no arrests in connection to the shocking incident having been made at this stage, this is why police have decided to appeal to the public for information, and with the hopes of tracking down the man pictured in the image released.

Officers say they would like to speak to the man pictured above, as they believe he could “assist with further enquiries relating to this incident”.

Anyone who recognises the man pictured, or if anyone has any further information that they think could assist with the ongoing police investigations, are asked to contact GMP, either by calling 101 quoting log 1929 of 02/01/2024, or reporting it online.
