Rudy’s is set to open a new pizza restaurant in Greater Manchester, this time out in Prestwich.
The rapidly-expanding pizzeria brand, which started life in Ancoats in 2015, has submitted a licensing application to open on the village’s high street.
Rudy’s will be taking over the former Barclays bank building on Bury New Road.
The new Rudy’s site is directly opposite an existing independent pizzeria, with Dokes (run by the same team behind Elnecot) operating in Prestwich since the summer of 2022.
Prestwich is also currently home to Cuckoo, which serves stone-baked pizzas, and family-favourite Croma, plus Lupo Caffe Italiano, a tiny restaurant hidden on an industrial estate down the road.
When it first opened its doors, Rudy’s was one of the few food and drink businesses operating in the redeveloped heart of Ancoats.
A roaring success, it began to climb the lists of the best pizzerias in the world, and quickly expanded with a second site on Peter Street.
Since then, its growth has been astronomical – you’ll find a third Manchester city centre site on Portland Street, as well as pizzerias in Sale, Chorlton, and Didsbury.
And that’s just in Greater Manchester.
Rudy’s has also opened restaurants in cities including Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, London, Nottingham, and Sheffield, with 24 in total open for business.
It’s famed for its Neapolitan-style pizzas with floppy crusts and melting mozzarella, as well as its affordable Italian cocktails.
A licensing application has been logged with Bury Council by Rudy’s and is displayed in the windows of 460 Bury New Road in Prestwich.
