Boxing Day is historically one of the busiest shopping days of the year, with bargain hunters flocking to the Trafford Centre. And it doesn’t calm down much at the turn of the New Year, with an extra bank holiday for everyone.
The brands based at major shopping mall just outside Manchester city centre will be throwing open their doors with loads of items on sale.
The Boxing Day sales were absolutely rammed once again this year, with shoppers eager to grab a bargain.
That’s despite a few notable closures – Next, which is famed for its sales, decided not to open until 27 December this year.
The Trafford Centre’s massive new M&S megastore also kept its doors closed on Boxing Day.
And luxury department store John Lewis is another big shop that stayed closed on 26 December.
There are loads of new shops that have opened there this year that will likely be getting in on the sales action, from the huge new River Island to a brand-new New Balance store.
And it was recently announced that Sephora was finally heading north, with its first UK store outside London.
Last year, the Trafford Centre was so busy shoppers said it was ‘the worst decision’ they’d ever made and was ‘a different level of busy’.
But given how quiet it was on the run-up to Christmas Day, maybe this year will be different?
(Erm – update… people were queueing up for Lush before it even opened this morning. I’ll eat my words.)
Yep. It’s still busy @LushLtd @_traffordcentre pic.twitter.com/GRkYpq1PS1
