Man in his 20s stabbed in chest in ‘targeted’ attack in Tameside
Police are urgently appealing for witnesses to a serious assault last night to come forward.
A man in his 20s was stabbed in the chest in what’s been said to be a ‘targeted and isolated’ attack.
Officers were called to Grange Road North in Hyde at around 11.55pm on Sunday 7 May.
They found the victim with serious injuries to his chest. He’s been taken to hospital for treatment and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Detective Inspector Graham Heaney from GMP Tameside district said: “We do believe that this was an isolated, targeted attack and that the wider community are not at risk.
“However, there will be an increased police presence over the next few days, to provide that reassurance.
“The investigation is still very much in the early stages, and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident last night or anyone who has any information or CCTV/dashcam/doorbell footage, to contact GMP on 0161 856 9262 quoting log number 4039 of 7/5/2023.
“Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity – Crimestoppers – anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
A stretch of the road was taped off today with a forensic tent in place, the Manchester Evening News reported.
