Marcus Rashford made it seven for the season and 100 club goals in his Manchester United career on Sunday – and just in time for his 25th birthday. Not a bad haul at all.

Man United‘s number 10 reached his century on his 318th appearance, scoring the only goal in the Red Devils’ win over West Ham to round off their last home game of 2022 in the Premier League.

He did so in fine fashion, leaping the highest to head home a wonderful whipped cross from Christian Eriksen and sending Old Trafford into raptures.

Rashford‘s 100th goal sees him join the ranks of just 22 players to have ever broke a century of goals for United, including the likes of Wayne Rooney, Bobby Charlton and Denis Law – though he’s still way off Rooney’s club record of 253.

He issued an emotional statement to social media reflecting on the remarkable achievement, stating, “I’ve been here since I was 7 years old and came through every single age group and played on every single pitch”, as well as expressing his gratitude to his family, friends and everyone around the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports pundits after the game, the Wythenshawe hero admitted that he “wasn’t in the right headspace” last season but that he seems to have found his motivation again this year.

He also went on to insist that “it’s a completely different energy around the whole club” since the arrival of new manager Erik ten Hag, who other players like Bruno Fernandes have already praised for bringing back a sense of discipline.

Given the appalling saga following Euro 2020 and the ridiculous levels of abuse footballers receive for having a bad day at the office, in general, it’s wonderful to see how well he has recovered both on and off the pitch.

We’ve just celebrated our Manc of the Month for October but we’ll take any excuse to wax lyrical about Sir Marcus Rashford MBE, King of Wythenshawe.

Happy birthday, Rashy.
